John Coster consults in The JIAN Group’s Government Services sector. A 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he has more than 28 years of experience in the government services industry and national defense. Before consulting with The JIAN Group, Mr. Coster was an Executive with A-T Solutions Inc., a global industry leader in anti- and counterterrorism. As the organization’s Executive Vice President of Business Development and Government relations from 2003 to 2010, he managed Congressional relations, corporate sales, business development, communications, marketing, market research, capture and proposal management, and alliances to support A-T Solutions strategic goals. During this time, he helped lead the company through a period of explosive growth.
A-T Solutions was named four consecutive years to the Annual Inc. 500/5000 fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. Also recognized in Entrepreneur Magazines’ Hot 500 List, the Washington Technology “Fast 50”, and most recently the winner of the very prestigious 2010 Greater Washington Area Government Contractor Award in the category of companies $75M-$100M. In his last 14 months, John served as the Group Executive Vice President of A-T Solutions Global Security Solutions business unit providing innovative solutions and services to Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, International, and Intelligence customers.
Before joining A-T Solutions, Mr. Coster completed a 20 year career in the U. S. Navy where he served as a Special Operations Officer. He is a qualified Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, Surface Warfare Officer, and Diving Officer. He is also assigned the Navy’s Scientific and Technical Intelligence Subspecialty. John has extensive operational and management experience in counter terrorism, intelligence analysis, and technical security. He spent his last four years in the Navy in Congressional oversight as a Congressional Fellow for Senator Mary Landrieu and a member of the Navy’s Office of Legislative Affairs. He worked daily with the Senate Armed Services Committee during the 106th Congress and established strong and lasting relationships with Members of Congress and their professional and personal staff’s.
Mr. Coster has a BS from the University of the Maryland, College Park and a Certificate of Legislative Studies from the Brookings Government Affairs Institute. He is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association and the Potomac Officers Club.
He is married to the former Dawn Peterson of Kane, PA. They reside in Mechanicsburg, PA with their two children, Jack 17, and Sydney 14.
